The Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GLSC) is the National Focal Point to the UNCCD, a legally binding international convention shared with one hundred and ninety-six (196) other countries. The Conference is to be attended by four to six hundred (400-600) persons from its Country Parties and will include operational units from UNCCD Secretariat and United Nations offices, country parties’ representatives, interpreters, media operatives (both local and international), administrative, other global partners and partner institutions and inter and non-governmental organisations.

As such, an initial Advance Mission from the UNCCD Secretariat visited Guyana in April 2018 to discuss the Host Country Agreement and its Annexes. During the visit, the team conducted a detailed assessment of the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, the identified host venue.
